Manual Therapy (Maitland/ Mulligan/ McKenzie/ Cyriax/ Butler/ Chaclock)

Manual physical therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy delivered with the hands as opposed to a device or machine. In manual therapy, practitioners use their hands to put pressure on muscle tissue and manipulate joints in an attempt to decrease back pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension, and joint dysfunction.

Manual Physiotherapy approaches healing from both; a structural perspective and functional methodology. This means Manual Therapy addresses pain, dysfunction, disease and disabilities by seeking the cause of these challenges. Potential for function can remerge only after determining the causes and their treatment.

Electro Therapy

Electrotherapy includes a range of treatments using electricity to reduce pain, improve circulation, repair tissues, strengthen muscles, and promote bone growth, leading to improvements in physical functioning.

Electrotherapy units usually consist of a battery-powered device connected by wires to adhesive electrode pads which are placed on the skin. The electrode pads are sticky, so they will adhere to the skin.

Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy treatment is a non-invasive therapy that makes use of intense beams of light of specific wavelengths to help reduce pain related to your injury. LASER stands for ‘Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.’

It is a connective tissue that forms what we call a sheath around the muscle or organ to give a layer of protection.

Muscle energy techniques focus on the manipulation of soft tissues and joints to help push them past their active range of movement. They can be used at almost every joint in the body where the soft tissue and joints are stiff or tight. They are used to encourage shortened or spastic muscles to lengthen to restore their natural length.

Psychological Services

Psychoanalytical and psychodynamic therapies are based on an individual's unconscious thoughts and perceptions that have developed throughout their childhood, and how these affect their current behaviour and thoughts.

Psychoanalytic therapy tends to look at experiences from early childhood to see if these events have affected the individual’s life, or potentially contributed to current concerns. Trigger-point dry needling is an invasive procedure where an acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin and muscle. It is aimed at myofascial trigger points which are hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with a hypersensitive palpable nodule in a taut band. Trigger point dry needling can be carried out a superficial or deep tissue level.

The needle may cause a small focal lesion which triggers satellite cell migration to the area which repair or replace damaged myofibers.
